Let’s talk about Gatefold

Today on the blog I wanted to talk about Gatefold invites. They are not as popular as the single card formats but I wanted to dedicate this post to tell you why they are so versatile. I actually chose this type of invite for my wedding so I have jotted down a few reasons why I love them and hopefully after this you will consider it as an option for your wedding invites too!

Firstly, what even is Gatefold? Well, it’s an A4 sized piece of paper, folded from the sides to meet in the middle and opens like a gate - hence the name!

My favourite thing is the added WOW factor it gives with the folded opening. People love to receive wedding invites, they love to touch and hold them and feel the paper in their hands, so the more ‘actions’ you give people do, the more memorable they’ll be!

You can still finish them off with cute ribbon, wax seals, or even belly bands so you don't have to compromise on any of the additional extras either.

With more space from the A4 sized paper, it means you can combine the main invite wording and all the details in one (which means there’s less pieces of paper for people to loose! Win). The main invite wording goes in the middle, and then you can utilise both sides and the back for things like accommodation details, the gift list, and even your wedding day timeline. The possibilities are endless which makes this type of invite a great choice, even for its versatility alone.

And if that doesn't persuade you, then this might! Gatefold invites are actually cheaper than individual single cards! This is because the more pieces of paper you have, the more expensive it is, which makes sense when you think about it. Yet with Gatefold you don't compromise on space, in fact you actually get MORE space! So what's not to love? It's a winner all round in my eyes!
